Today, RAFA Newark & District Branch commemorated the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The Mayor and the RAFA Chairman (Michael Reilly) gave two admirable speeches in the town hall. Followed by wreath laying at the war memorial and a poignant mini-service. The first wreath layer was of course Air Chief Marshall Sir Andrew Pulford.
Just before 11am a Merlin engined Spitfire flew over us three times, returning us abruptly to the 2nd World War. Below are a few images of the morning.
