Just bought a very low mileage Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 from Marshalls Lincoln. The price was strong, but I thought it worth it. The only negative that came up on Carvertical was that both front tyres were showing signs of age. I asked them to be changed but was denied by sales.
12th July: I bought it on the 11th July and collected it on July 12th. Very impressed with its performance, however after 30 miles and putting it to bed in the garage, the InControl app reported that it had an EML light on. I scanned the fault with my Autel OBD tool and discovered that Bank 2 had a failed O2 sensor. I contacted Marshalls and managed to book it in for the 16th July. I also asked them to check the left front tyre as it had a cut in the tyre wall and investigate whether the battery was in good condition as I had seen a low battery warning on the dash.
16/17th July: Was really impressed that these faults were addressed, unfortunately the vehicle had to stay in Lincoln overnight for parts. Two new tyres were also fitted alongside a new battery and the O2 sensor replaced. However, immediately the InControl App failed to work at this point (my guess the reboot failed to activate the Telematic Control Unit (TCU).
I drove the car home and unfortunately the EML warning reappeared, I called Lincoln and they responded immediately and the vehicle was booked in on the 27th July for a fix.
27th July: Visited Lincoln and this time the O2 sensor on Bank 2 was fixed. However, the Incontrol App problem continued. I was told that all ECU’s were updated to the latest software and the fault had been reported to the Jaguar technical team at Coventry.
28th July: I called the Jaguar technical team to ask what progress was made,
30th July: The technical team called and asked me to follow a couple of well known reset procedures, which failed to initiate the App. After further investigation I have discovered that the present PiviPro software is out of date and cannot be updated over the air. It should be 4.5.1, but is actually 3.3.2 which I suspect is the real problem. This morning I sent two emails, one to Jaguar and one to Marshalls Lincoln suggesting it should visit the dealership to be reprogrammed with their propriety tools. So far I have heard nothing.
3rd August: Jaguar Customer experience after kissing with their technical team asked me to do the following:
Please refer the client to retailer for a TCU reset so that we can try to get SIM back working on network. Please request Retailer raise a TA to TSD if further support is required.
4th August: Marshalls Lincoln, have come back and said that a TCU rest was performed and asked whether I had extended warranty? Here we go, this problem was not initiated by myself and now it looks like a warranty claim.
It does sound very negative, but like most things all of these faults should have been identified prior to delivery and all would have been fine. The car once cleaned does look awesome and drives beautifully.
13th August: Visited the dealership today, to discus the situation. Thankfully, they have agreed to exchange the TCU tomorrow (after it is delivered in the morning).
14th August: All fixed – time to drive it….
As a complete aside, I don’t miss the Type R one bit, but I can’t say this about the Grenadier.
